The Totem Loop and East Entrance Trails of the Sitka National Historical Park trails system are once again open. Park visitors are encouraged to be “Bear Aware" since bears may be present in the park at any time and continue to be present in the park at night.Best practices for trail users include:
1.
Be alert (not wearing earbuds, be aware of surroundings).
2.
Make noise in areas of limited visibility to avoid unwanted surprises.
3.
Avoid areas that have recent signs of bear activity (tracks, scat or active fishing).
4.
Keep pets on leash.
The Russian Memorial Loop Trail and Riverview Trails remain closed day and night until further notice.Please observe trail postings and temporary closures, as the bear situation could change at any time.
