SAN FRANCISCO-After a lengthy review process brought by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Park Service is cancelling the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) solicitation for the Fort Baker Boat Shop in Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
The solicitation process began with the RFQ in April 2019. Due to delays associated with COVID-19 and the changed environment for the hospitality, tourism, and recreation industries, the NPS has decided to cancel the RFQ solicitation and re-issue this opportunity as a Request for Proposals (RFP) open to all sources in the future.
This cancellation will allow NPS to carefully consider how circumstances have shifted since the start of the pandemic and better address challenges to the condition of waterfront infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of the boat shop.
“We recognize how important this site is to the Southern Marin community. This change in the solicitation process will allow us to more easily find a long-term occupant for the boat shop," said Charles Strickfaden, Communications Director for Golden Gate National Recreation Area. “Our staff have worked diligently over the past several months to bring this opportunity to fruition and we are excited to take this next step forward. "
The NPS appreciates the effort that the five respondents made in 2019 to the original RFQ, and thanks them for their continued interest.
More information about the upcoming RFP will be announced in the future.
