WILTON/RIDGEFIELD - On March 21st, 2022, Weir Farm National Historical Park will be premiering the new How to be an Impressionist Painter Virtual Workshop. This five-part virtual series will feature Master Impressionist Dmitri Wright and will highlight the science and poetry of Impressionist landscape painting.
As an instructor of Impressionist Painting Workshops at Weir Farm National Historical Park for over a decade, Wright seeks to paint what is good, beautiful, and true in life by using techniques from the Impressionist Masters and his classical training from the Academy. Wright is an instructor for Greenwich Historical Society and Silvermine Art School in addition to providing demonstrations at the Florence Griswold Museum. Since Julian Alden Weir, America's most beloved Impressionist, acquired this rural, rustic retreat in Branchville, Connecticut in 1882, there has been a rich artistic tradition at Weir Farm National Historical Park. To honor and continue this tradition, Weir Farm is making its popular Impressionist Painting Workshop with Dmitri Wright virtual for everyone!
“I am thrilled about this new online workshop that will provide opportunities for artists of all skill levels from across the country to experience an introduction to a Weir Farm Impressionist Painting Workshop from home," said Wright. “I encourage everyone to find their own artistic voice with insights from these five virtual sessions."
A new video session will premiere each day from Monday, March 21st through Friday, March 25th at 11:00 am, following Dmitri Wright on his journey to complete an Impressionist masterpiece. Videos will be premiered each day as a Facebook Live Premiere event on the park’s Facebook page and on the park’s website.
