Shiloh, TN - Shiloh National Military Park is seeking donations of bottle caps of any size (plastic or metal) to be used in a special project for the National Park Service’s 106th birthday on Aug. 25, 2022. We will be collecting them starting in June and running through the end of July.
There will be four locations to drop off the bottle caps: Shiloh Visitor Center, Tennessee River Museum, Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, and the Corinth Tourism Office. The collection bin at the Corinth Interpretive Center will be available after hours for drop-offs.
The special project will be on display during the NPS Birthday Bash Concert on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Shiloh Battlefield and the weeks following.
On Aug. 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the “Organic Act" creating the National Park Service, a new federal bureau in the Department of the Interior responsible for protecting the 35 national parks and monuments then managed by the department and those yet to be established.
Today the National Park Service manages 423 individual units (parks) covering more than 85 million acres of land in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and US territories.
