Campfire Restrictions on the Kenai Peninsula

Campfire Restrictions on the Kenai Peninsula

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 1. It is reproduced in full below.

In response to the current high fire danger on the Kenai Peninsula, effective immediately and until further notice, open campfires are restricted to designated campgrounds or cabins within enclosed metal fire grates or designated fire rings provided at developed recreational facilities within Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Chugach National Forest, and Kenai Fjords National Park lands on the Kenai Peninsula. Use of cooking stoves and gas grills is allowed.

Fire danger remains very high over much of the Kenai Peninsula. Residents and visitors are urged to continue to use caution with anything that could ignite a fire.
