Heirloom Apple Tastings, Apple Baking Contest, Tours of the Restored Orchard, Corn Husk Doll Making, and More Planned for Harvest Festival on September 17th.

Whiskeytown, CA - Whiskeytown National Recreation Area invites the public to the first Harvest Festival in five years! This year's festival will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, September 17. This family friendly event will include heirloom apple tastings courtesy of Humboldt Cider Company, an apple baking contest, cider press demonstrations, walking tours of the restored orchard, walking tours around Camden House, corn husk doll making, gold panning, croquet, and more. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase courtesy of Whiskeytown Marinas, LLC.

Parking Information: While the event will be held around the Camden House within the Tower House Historic District, visitors must park at Oak Bottom and take the free shuttle to Tower House for this event. Parking will not be permitted at the historic district or along Highway 299.

Apple Baking Contest: Anyone is allowed to enter this contest. Contestants must bake a dessert using apples as an ingredient. Contestants need to cut their desserts into bite sized pieces so that festival attendees can taste and vote on their favorite apple desserts. Contestants must park at Oak Bottom and bring their dessert to the NPS Welcome Tent at Tower House Historic District by 11am. The public will be allowed to taste and vote on their favorite desserts from 11am to 1pm. The Apple Bake Contest winner will then be announced at 1:30pm and will receive a National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Pass courtesy of Friends of Whiskeytown. This pass is valued at $80 and allows free entry into the National Park System for an entire year. The second place contestant will receive the Whiskeytown-Lassen Volcanic Annual Pass courtesy of Friends of Whiskeytown, a pass allowing free entry into the two parks for a year and valued at $55.
