On October 17, 2022, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) will debut its Cybersecurity for the Operational Technology Environment (CyOTE™) four-hour practitioner training course for energy system owners and operators during the 11th annual GridSecCon 2022 Conference. The virtual event will be hosted by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center, and ReliabilityFirst. Cybersecurity experts from the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) will facilitate the course.
After the completion of the CyOTE practitioner training, participants will:
- Understand how the CyOTE methodology can enable organizations to detect and analyze anomalies early in the cyber kill-chain
- Be able to apply the principles of the CyOTE methodology to prevent cyber attacks
- Identify the capabilities needed to implement the methodology within their organizations

About CyOTE™: CyOTE is CESER’s tool to enhance detection of malicious cyber activity in energy sector operational technology (OT) networks and industrial control systems.
The CyOTE program helps energy companies better detect anomalies in their OT environments, identify cyber-attacks earlier in the attack chain, and act decisively to prevent or limit damage. Leveraging the CyOTE methodology enables energy sector partners to enhance grid reliability by early detection and mitigation of threats to critical infrastructure.
