Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva of Colombia

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva of Colombia. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Foreign Minister Leyva discussed shared priorities, including the full implementation of the Peace Accord through the UN Verification Mission. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield emphasized U.S. support as Colombia addresses security and human rights challenges while committing to the full inclusion of Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities as critical to lasting and inclusive peace.

Building on Secretary Blinken’s productive trip to Colombia last week, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to working with Colombia at the UN on shared global challenges including migration, food security, trade, climate change, and human rights.
