The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Tribal Energy Program, and the Western Area Power Administration will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar titled "Renewable Energy Case Studies-Tribal and Developer Perspectives" on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Attend and learn how two Tribes have successfully implemented renewable energy projects using innovative programs and practices, and how those can be applied to your project. David Nahai, president of David Nahai Consulting Services, and Rod Phillip, an engineer with Puvurnaq Power Company, will offer both the tribal and developer perspectives on a range of project development issues, including community engagement, tribal energy goals, business plans, site and feasibility studies, project organization and management, financing, risk management, environmental studies, and permitting.

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Intra-organization Energy Efficiency Competitions" on Tuesday, November 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The webinar will show how public and private organizations can boost their energy efficiency through friendly competitions. Two organizations that have had success with this - Better Buildings Challenge partner City of El Paso and Better Buildings, Better Plants Partner Legrand - will share how they have used these competitions to spur internal energy efficiency. The session will also include an overview of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Efficiency Competition Guide.

The webinar describes how property owners, utilities, energy efficiency organizations, cities and other government entities can use the tool to compute annualized energy and energy-cost savings, maintenance savings, greenhouse gas reductions, net present value, and simple payback associated with potential lighting upgrades.
