Upcoming Webinars

January 28: Live Webinar on How to Utilize the National Geothermal Data System

Webinar Sponsor: EERE’s Geothermal Technologies Office

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “How to Utilize the National Geothermal Data System" on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) will serve as a platform for sharing consistent and reliable geothermal-relevant technical data with users of all types and supplying tools relevant for their work. Participants will engage in a live demo on how to use the NGDS and will learn how this content-rich data can support the discovery and development of commercial-scale geothermal energy production.

January 30: Live Webinar on Overcoming Persistent Barriers to Energy Efficiency in Multifamily Housing through Partnerships

Webinar Sponsor: EERE’s Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Overcoming Persistent Barriers to Energy Efficiency in Multifamily Housing through Partnerships" on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Multifamily housing presents tremendous opportunities for improving energy efficiency nationwide, but has been a perennially difficult sector to tackle. While in many cases multifamily work has fallen outside of the jurisdiction of state energy offices (SEOs), this webinar will discuss how SEOs can play a key role by partnering with entities like housing authorities, utilities, and private investors to enhance and support energy efficiency policies and programs in this sector.

January 14: 2014 Hydrogen Student Design Contest

Webinar Sponsor: EERE’s Fuel Cell Technologies Office

The Energy Department presented a live webinar titled “2014 Hydrogen Student Design Contest" on Tuesday, January 14. This webinar presents the winning entries of the 2013 Hydrogen Student Design Contest from the University of Kyushu and University of Birmingham. For the 2013 competition, teams were challenged to develop hydrogen fueling infrastructure plans for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions for the 2013-2025 timeframe. The first place winner, University of Kyushu's design, focused on developing fueling clusters in urban areas, which could then be expanded into suburban areas and along highways to facilitate cross-state travel. The University of Birmingham placed second with its proposed "hydrogen highway" system that connects Boston to Washington, D.C., before connecting most areas in the northeastern United States. The theme for the 2014 contest-designing a drop-in fueling station-is also discussed.
