May 27: Live Webinar on National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Fuel Cell Contaminant Database

The Energy Department presented a live webinar titled “NREL’s Fuel Cell Contaminant Database" on Tuesday, May 27. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has led a multi-year project studying the effect of system-derived contaminants on the performance and durability of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. The team screened approximately 60 commercially available balance-of-plant (BOP) materials using multiple methods to identify and quantify system-derived contaminants. In order to make the results of this work more accessible and useful to the fuel cell community, NREL has designed an interactive material screening database. The webinar provides an overview of data obtained during the project and a tutorial on how to use the Web-based data tool to access project results.

May 15: Live Webinar on Building Energy Optimization Tool Training

The Energy Department presented a live webinar titled "Building Energy Optimization Tool (BEopt) Training" on Thursday, May 15. The webinar trained attendees on how to use the BEopt tool, which was developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory through the Energy Department's Building America Program. Viewers will learn how this free software has helped to design and sell cost-effective, high-efficiency homes and how the tool provides opportunities for builders to improve their home designs by finding the best efficiency measures for specific climates and budgets.
