New Orleans, LA - On Oct. 15, 2019, with critical support from the U.S. Border Patrol, New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) International Division, the USMS New Orleans Task Force located and arrested NOPD fugitive, Martin Jose Jarquin-Estrada, 31 years of age, in Zacatecas, Mexico. He was wanted by NOPD for a 2017 Murder.

In February of 2017 the New Orleans Police Department responded to a call on Clara Street in New Orleans and upon arrival they discovered a Hispanic male laying unresponsive on a mattress. The victim had multiple stab wounds and later succumbed to his injuries. A murder suspect was later identified as Martin Jose Jarquin-Estrada, a Nicaraguan citizen.

The NOPD requested the assistance of the USMS to locate and arrest Martin Jose Jarquin-Estrada. Attempts were made to locate the fugitive in the New Orleans area but were unsuccessful as he had fled the area and later the country. The USMS continued to look for him until ultimately locating and arresting him in Zacatecas, Mexico. Martin Jose Jarquin-Estrada arrived in Houston, Texas yesterday, the first point of entry where he will await extradition to New Orleans.

The U.S. Marshal for Eastern District of Louisiana, Scot Illing wanted to thank the U.S. Border Patrol and their Agent assigned to the USMS New Orleans Task Force for their assistance in locating Jarquin-Estrada who had been wanted for more than two years. The countless hours and great team work amongst our law enforcement agencies directly led to this arrest and I would like to thank all agencies involved.
