Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met with members of the Venezuelan Unitary Platform’s Negotiation Delegation today in Washington, D.C. She expressed support for a return to Venezuelan-led negotiations with the Maduro regime under the Mexico City process to promote free and fair elections in 2024 and address humanitarian issues. Deputy Secretary Sherman noted that the United States continues to press for improved human rights conditions in Venezuela and supports the Venezuelan people in their efforts to restore democracy.
