Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said the Commerce Department relaunched the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

She discussed the move at the Faith-Based National Partnership Summit, according to an Oct. 20 news release.

“Welcome to the Commerce Department’s Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships Summit,” Raimondo said in the release. “I’m thrilled to be joined by Deputy Secretary Graves and Under Secretary Cravins. And most importantly, thank you all for participating today.”

She said the Commerce Department leadership understands the importance of the mission to ensure no community is left behind and that equitable results are delivered, the release reported.

A $50 billion investment was made to ensure all Americans get connected to affordable, reliable high-speed internet, Raimondo said in the release. Another $50 billion investment is going to build new semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the U.S. as it supercharges innovation.

Training tomorrow’s workforces to help bolster industries in local communities is being supported by additional billions of dollars she said, the release reported.

“Faith-based and neighborhood partnerships form the backbones of communities across the country. So many people learn about apprenticeships, grants and career opportunities from their community organizations. And you know your communities’ needs better than anyone,” she said, according to the release.
