Week ending Oct. 22: Transportation Department publishes 20 notices

There were 20 notices published by the Transportation Department in week ending Oct. 22, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, BNSF Railway Company's Request To Amend Its Positive Train Control Safety Plan and Positive Train Control System, was submitted on October 21, 2022.

The Transportation Department published 18 the week before, marking an 11.1 percent increase.

The Department handles nearly all infrastructure crisscrossing the country. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, said the Department should be privatized to save money, reduce congestion and spur innovation.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
