Census Bureau to Embargo New Population and Housing Unit Estimates

MAY 16, 2017 - The U.S. Census Bureau will offer a two-day media embargo period for subscribers to view the 2016 population estimates for all local governmental units, including incorporated places, minor civil divisions and consolidated cities. Housing unit estimates will also be released for the nation, states and counties.

When: Tuesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. EDT to Thursday, May 25 at 12:01 a.m. EDT.

Where: Census Bureau’s embargo site.

Interview requests: Embargo subscribers may interview Census Bureau experts during the embargo period. To request an interview, email pio@census.gov.

Obtain media embargo access: Visit census.gov to register for embargo access.

The embargoed information may not be published, broadcast, posted online, distributed via wire and distribution services, or shared with a non-embargo member until the public release date and time. The public release will be at 12:01 a.m. EDT, Thursday, May 25.
