U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Cross Border Xpress Port of Entry facility Friday apprehended a male fugitive with an outstanding felony warrant for sexual assault of a minor.On November 4, at approximately 3:19 a.m., Gilbert Perez Flores, a 45-year-old U.S. citizen, applied for entry at the Cross Border Xpress facility on foot. Perez presented his U.S. passport card. A CBP officer ran his name through law enforcement database and discovered he had an active warrant out of Harris County, Texas. Perez was escorted to a secure location for further inspection.CBP officers conducted a ten-print query utilizing the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) confirming Perez’s identity and that he was wanted for sex offense with a minor by Harris County Sheriff’s Office.CBP officers transported and booked Perez into the San Diego County Jail to await extradition.Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
