U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) officials announce December 9, 2022, as the batching date for applications for the popular Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) administered by the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in South Dakota (SD).
While applications are accepted year-round, applications for CSP are batched annually for consideration. The batching date for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 is December 9, 2022. Interested producers should contact their local NRCS Field Office to discuss how to submit applications by December 9, 2022, to ensure their applications are considered for 2023 funding.
About the Program
The CSP is offered in SD through continuous sign-ups. The program provides many potential benefits including increased crop yields, decreased inputs, wildlife habitat improvements, and increased resilience to weather extremes. The CSP is for working lands including cropland, pastureland, rangeland, non-industrial private forestland, and agricultural land under the jurisdiction of a Tribe.
