Concord, NH - Late this afternoon, “Fugitive of the Week", Amanda Lee Tappan, 31 years-of-age, surrendered at the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH. Tappan had been wanted on an outstanding federal arrest warrant issued on Sept. 24, 2019 for bail violations and failing to appear on an original charge of sales of the synthetic narcotic - Fentanyl.
Ms. Tappan was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week" on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019. This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week" is distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers.
After the feature was aired, the U.S. Marshals Service conducted multiple interviews and surveillance in and around the Nashua, NH area. It was as a result of this pressure that Tappan opted to surrender today. Ms. Tappan is currently in custody at the federal courthouse in Concord awaiting her initial court appearance on the bail violations and failure to appear on her original narcotics offense.
Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 7,751 arrests (Updated as of 07/25/2019). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
