Explanation of Vote on a Third Committee Resolution on the Right of the Palestinian People to Self-Determination

Recalling the United States’ principled rejection of one-sided language unfairly targeting the State of Israel, we oppose this effort. 

This resolution does not advance efforts to establish sustainable peace in the Middle East and does not help create conditions that promote negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians toward a two-state solution.

For these reasons, we are voting “no” on this resolution.
