Explanation of Position on a Second Committee Resolution on Industrial Development Cooperation

Madam Chairperson, on behalf of the United States, I would like to extend our thanks to the facilitator. We are pleased to join consensus on this resolution.

However, the United States would like to highlight that we withdrew from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in 1996, after concluding that the organization lacked a clear purpose and was generally ineffective.

We also refer you to our general statement delivered on November 21 for our position on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, trade, and technology transfer.

Thank you.
