The Treasures of NOAA’s Ark exhibit opened at the Tellus Science Museumoffsite link in Cartersville, Georgia on December 3, 2022 and will be on display there until October 29, 2023. The exhibit includes 19th century maps and charts, as well as early scientific instruments that recall the agency’s proud heritage and legacy of service to the nation. Through partnering with public institutions, this exhibit showcases how NOAA and its predecessor agencies have impacted the everyday lives of citizens from coast to coast.
Treasures began as part of the Preserve America Initiative that calls on federal agencies to promote a greater shared knowledge about the nation’s past, strengthen regional identities and local pride, increase local participation in preserving the country’s cultural and natural heritage assets and support the economic vitality of our communities. Treasures of NOAA’s Ark has visited 18 different venues since 2005, reaching millions of people.
The Tellus Science Museum, a Smithsonian-affiliated nonprofit organization, focuses on earth science. The museum is dedicated to engaging, educating, and inspiring visitors to make scientific connections through dynamic exhibits and enriching experiences.
