House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Nita Lowey (D-NY) released the following statement after the Senate defeated the Trump-GOP rescissions bill:
“The Trump-GOP rescissions bill was a disastrous attempt to play election year politics by eliminating funding for children’s health insurance and slashing investments that create jobs and strengthen communities. The Senate was right to reject this attack on American children and families.
“With their rescissions plan defeated, it is time for House Republicans to work with Democrats in good faith on appropriations bills for the upcoming fiscal year that responsibly fund domestic priorities and are free from poison pill riders."
