Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today named House Democrats to serve on a conference committee of the House and Senate versions of the Minibus Appropriations bill.
“Democrats know that a budget is a statement of values, and that we must make strong, smart investments that meet the urgent needs of the American people," said Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. “Unfortunately, House Republicans advanced a partisan special interest package that undermines critical protections for clean air and clean water, attacks job-creating investments in transformational technologies and gives massive handouts to big polluters and special interests. Our Democratic conferees bring extraordinary legislative experience, determination and energy to the fight to protect the health, safety, education and economic security of the American people, and will stand strong against the relentless Republican efforts to stack the deck against the American people and for special interests."
The House Democratic Conferees to the conference committee are:
* Congresswoman Nita Lowey of New York
* Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur of Ohio
* Congressman Peter Visclosky of Indiana
* Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio
* Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida
