Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME), Chair of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, delivered the following remarks at the Subcommittee's FY 2023 Member Day hearing:
Today we will hear from Members of Congress on pressing issues including air quality and monitoring, forestry management, remediation of abandoned mine lands, and the importance of supporting Insular Areas.
The Members testifying today represent the interests of both Republicans and Democrats, from cities and rural areas all over the country, facing a broad array of challenges.
We have 4 Members testifying today. Each witness will have 5 minutes to present their testimony and we will be using a timer to keep us on track. After we hear each testimony, members will have an opportunity to ask questions.
