Iron Horse Aviation, a family-owned business based in Newton, Iowa, has been named Small Business of the Week by Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee Chair Joni Ernst. The company was founded in 2016 by U.S. Army veteran Colt Zesch and his wife Emily.
Chair Ernst stated, “Iron Horse Aviation is soaring proof of the grit, discipline, and service that define our nation’s veterans. Founded in 2016, Colt and Emily Zesch have propelled their vision into a business that not only provides world-class aviation services but also lands firmly on the values of faith, family, and country. During National Veterans Small Business Week, I’m honored to recognize the Zeschs’ leadership and dedication.”
Colt Zesch is a fifth-generation Iowa farmer and former member of the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division. He uses his military background to guide the company as it delivers specialized aerial services throughout the Midwest.
In addition to their commercial work, Colt and Emily Zesch established the Iron Horse Guardians Foundation. This nonprofit operates a helicopter fleet for humanitarian missions such as search and rescue operations, disaster relief efforts, and supply deliveries.
Chair Ernst will continue her weekly recognition of notable small businesses across Iowa.
