FBI Jacksonville is accepting nominations for the 2023 FBI Citizens Academy.
During spring 2023, select corporate, religious, civic and community leaders will get the opportunity to tour local FBI activities behind the scenes and take part in case studies and demonstrations led by special agents over the span of seven sessions, according to a Jan. 11 news release.
“The team at FBI Jacksonville works tirelessly, around the clock and in coordination with our partners, to protect communities across North Florida, and it’s important for community members to understand how we serve,” Special Agent in Charge Sherri E. Onks said in the release. “The FBI Citizens Academy program is a unique opportunity for us to share our work one-on-one with community leaders of all backgrounds, and for them to provide us with feedback. Through frank discussion and information sharing, we can improve relationships and advance our mission to protect all Americans.”

The FBI will discuss its efforts to fight violent crime, human trafficking, cybercrime and terrorism, as well as how teams are trained in areas including forensics, firearms and evidence recovery, the release reported.
Citizens Academy candidates can either submit themselves or be recommended by a program alumnus and/or a current or former FBI employee, according to the release. There is no attendance fee. The nomination form can be found online, and any questions regarding the program or application process can be emailed to outreach.jacksonville@fbi.gov.
