Tornado touches down near Alabama River Lakes Project, causes ‘significant damage’

A cluster of tornadoes hit Alabama on Thursday, January 12, 2023, with one in Selma causing widespread damage, near the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District Alabama River Lakes project office. The large tornado touched down in Selma Thursday afternoon, knocking down trees and causing extensive structural damage throughout the area including significant damage to Lock 8 (ramp and parking area) at the Alabama Rivers Lakes project.

While no injuries were reported on site for Mobile District personnel it caused a big scare to our team.
