A Louisiana man was recently sentenced to more than 21 years in prison for producing child pornography after an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations.
Garrett Michael Faulk, 25, of Iowa, La., was sentenced by a federal judge to 262 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, according to a Jan. 19 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement news release. Faulk also was ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution.
"All child exploitation crimes are abhorrent, but there is a special place in hell for those who engage in the particularly heinous crime of producing child sexual abuse material," HSI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Dave Denton said in the release. "HSI special agents and our law enforcement partners will relentlessly pursue child predators, in every form, and ensure those who commit these atrocious crimes are brought to justice."
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a child exploitation complaint, which lead to the discovery of an explicit videos and pictures on Faulk's cell phone of prepubescent children, the release reported. Faulk reportedly admitted to using the phone to capture the images. He pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography Aug. 23, 2022.
The case was investigated by HSI Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danny Siefker, the release reported.
