Infrastructure Improvements Planned for Park Campgrounds

As we work to improve the infrastructure at Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground, Cabin Camp 3, and Oak Ridge Campground this summer, some campsites and cabins in these campgrounds will be closed. This planned project will work towards replacing wastewater systems in these areas which includes septic tanks, lines, and septic drain fields. The work will cause the following campsite and cabin closures:

  • All campsites and the amphitheater in Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground are closed from June 20, 2023 through October 27, 2023.
  • All cabins in Cabin Camp 3 will remain closed until August 2, 2023.
  • The B and C Loops of Oak Ridge Campground will remain open, however A Loop sites A1 – A24 as well as the A Loop restroom will be closed from August 1, 2023 through November 16, 2023.
These closure dates may be subject to change dependent on the completion of the improvements and external factors such as weather and the supply chain.

Prince William Forest Park is an oasis of quiet and calm. In 1936, Chopawamsic Recreation Area opened its gates to house children's 'relief' camps during the Great Depression. Renamed Prince William Forest Park in 1948, its fragrant woods and trickling streams have welcomed generations of campers, hikers, bikers and nature lovers.
