Public notices: State Department publishes 30 in January

There were 30 notices published by the State Department in January, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, Notice of Determinations; Culturally Significant Objects Being Imported for Exhibition-Determinations: “Gego: Measuring Infinity” Exhibition, was submitted on January 30, 2023.

The State Department published 27 the month before, marking an 11.1 percent increase for the current month.

The State Department is responsibly for international relations with a budget of more than $50 billion. Tenure at the State Dept. is increasingly tenuous and it's seen as an extension of the President's will, ambitions and flaws.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
