Catoctin Mountain Park Announces 2023 Youth Conservation Corps Program

The work projects include trail trimming and rehabilitation, foot bridge and wayside cleaning, vegetation monitoring, fish monitoring, invasive plant management, and painting. The YCC will learn about plant and wildlife identification, hand tool use and maintenance, safety, leadership, teamwork, and the variety of careers available in the NPS.

The position will involve daily outdoor physical work, hiking several miles per day, working in summer temperatures, and using a variety of hand tools. Five YCC members will be selected through a random drawing.  Applicants must be 15 – 18 years of age. The hourly rate of pay will be $17.50. The YCC will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
