Black History Month is an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of Black Americans and recognize their contributions to our country. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on our work here at the Department to ensure economic growth and opportunity for all communities. The Biden-Harris Administration remains committed to using the power of the Federal Government to address the long-standing disparities that have hampered the progress of Black communities. This commitment guides our work across all programs to ensure equity is at the center of our work and that no community is left behind – through ensuring access to high-speed affordable internet, elevating minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs, and supporting workforce development programs for the industries of tomorrow.
As we come to the end of Black History Month, I want to thank our employees who work hard every day to support and invest in the African American business community. The Department is committed to creating an economy that works for all Americans and fostering a workplace that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible to every employee. We must continue to build a workforce that looks like America. While there is still much work to be done, together we will fulfill America’s promise to all.
In honor of Black History Month, many of our employees shared the significance of Black History Month and their favorite part of working in federal government. Please see some of the outstanding African American employees highlighted in our video spotlight series.
