Steamtown's seasonal train rides offer a unique National Park experience. Rail experiences vary from short 30-minute trips exploring the park’s historic railroad yard to full-day trips through the Poconos.
Excursions
Those looking to spend the majority of their Steamtown visit on a train may wish to consider an excursion experience. Offered seasonally between May-October, the length of excursions and departure times will vary depending on the event being offered and the destination. View the 2022 schedule.

Senior (ages 62+) $23.00/person - $50.00/person;
Youth (ages 3-11) $18.00/person - $33.00/person;

Short Train Rides
Scranton Limited: a 3-mile round trip ride lasting approximately 30-minutes. The locomotive travels through the rail yards, crosses the Lackawanna River, passes the historic Radisson at Lackawanna Station hotel and stops at the University of Scranton before returning to the Steamtown boarding area.
Caboose Experience: a short 15-20-minute ride in our historic caboose within the park boundaries. It gives visitors a chance to experience what life was like at the back of the train. This experience is included with the purchase of a Scranton Limited ticket.
2022 Season:
* The Scranton Limited or the Caboose Experience will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as staffing permits. Departure times are: 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm.
* Tickets are $6.00 for adults and kids over the age of 5; kids 5 and under are $1.00. Tickets must be purchased on-site at the Information Kiosk, the day of your visit.
On days we offer our longer excursion rides, the Caboose Experience will be offered in lieu of the Scranton Limited, as staffing permits.
