USDA Issues Finding of No Significant Impact for the Release of Cheilosia urbana to Control Invasive Hawkweeds

Washington, D.C., [Sept. 24, 2019] - The United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has prepared a final environmental assessment and issued a finding of no significant impact associated with releasing hoverfly (Cheilosia urbana) in the contiguous United States to control invasive hawkweeds (Pilosella spp.). With this action, APHIS will begin issuing permits to release hoverfly.
