The U.S. government, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the government of Ukraine hosted the U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Forum to promote public-private partnerships, accelerate American investment and support Ukraine's economic recovery.
Senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Samantha Power, spoke at the April 13 forum that focused on needs and opportunities in Ukraine, according to an April 7 news release.
"Through public-private partnerships the U.S. government is creating opportunities for investment and innovation. The U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Forum is an example of what happens when we all come to the table to reach a collective goal," said Secretary of State Antony Blinken in an April 7 Twitter post.
The event, which also featured other thought leaders and senior business executives, served as the official launch of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Ukraine Business Initiative.
The forum brought together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss ways to promote business opportunities in Ukraine and to support the country's economic growth and recovery. With the participation of high-level officials from the U.S. government and leading figures from the private sector, the event was expected to generate productive discussions and to showcase the potential for increased economic cooperation between the U.S. and Ukraine.
The U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Forum is part of a broader effort by the U.S. government and private sector to support Ukraine's economic and political development, according to the State Department. The U.S. has provided significant financial and technical assistance to Ukraine since the country's independence in 1991, and has been a strong supporter of Ukraine's efforts to build a democratic and market-oriented society.
The forum is an important platform for promoting further cooperation between the U.S. and Ukraine and for advancing shared interests and objectives, the State Department said.
