Raimondo: 'For over a decade, the U.S. has ranked as the top destination for international companies'

The lineup of  U.S. government representatives, business leaders and global executives who will speak at the 2023 SelectUSA Investment Summit has been announced.

The U.S. Department of Commerce, alongside its program SelectUSA, announced the speakers for the summit in an April 24 press release. The federal program SelectUSA  is "charged to promote and facilitate business investment into the United States," the release states. 

"We work with the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service and entities across government to facilitate job-creating business investment into the United States and raise awareness of the critical role that economic development plays in the U.S. economy," SelectUSA states on its website. The program has "facilitated more than $146 billion in investment, creating and/or retaining over 166,000 U.S. jobs" since its inception, according to the website.

The annual summit, scheduled for May 1 through May 4 the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., is the largest event in the U.S. for the promotion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Investors, industry experts, economic development organizations (EDOs) and companies gather at the summit to explore opportunities to invest in the U.S.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo will serve as host for the summit, the release reports. Speakers of note include White House senior officials, Cabinet members, U.S. governors, thought leaders and executives from U.S. and global firms, according to the release. 

"I look forward to another SelectUSA Investment Summit, focused on celebrating our FDI accomplishments, deals across all 56 states, territories, and District of Columbia, and the exchange of knowledge between public and private sector leaders," Raimondo said in the news release.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm are among the government officials scheduled to present at the conference, the news release reports. The governors of 

American Samoa, Arizona, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Delaware, Guam, Indiana, Kansa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands are scheduled to attend. Corporate representatives from Flex, Mahindra, Panasonic Corporation of North America, Walmart and Delta Electronics North America, among others. Foreign investors will also detail their plans for U.S. investment and expansion, according to the news release.

“For over a decade, the U.S. has ranked as the top destination for international companies to set down roots and achieve their expansion goals,” Raimondo said in the news release “The United States’ diverse landscapes, vast resources, skilled workforce, and spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship are just a few of the reasons why investors choose to settle here."
