U.S. Rep. Kevin Hern on 'defective' World Health Organization: 'We must NOT continue to surrender authority'

While the Biden Administration attempts to deepen ties with the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S Rep. Kevin Hernit (R-OK) says it in the best interest of the United States to withdraw based on past WHO's actions regarding COVID-19.

"RIGHT NOW: Biden and his liberal lackeys are working to deepen our ties with the WHO. Have we forgotten that the U.S is a sovereign nation?" the congressman said on Twitter. "We must NOT continue to surrender authority to the defective WHO. We must withdraw!"

According to the United Nations website, the WHO serves as the primary governing and coordinating body for health matters within the United Nations framework. Its role entails offering guidance on global health concerns, shaping the research priorities, establishing benchmarks and guidelines, formulating policy recommendations based on empirical evidence, extending technical assistance to nations, and monitoring and evaluating health trends.

According to Hern, in 2020, even after several months of COVID-19 cases emerging in China, the WHO continued to propagate misinformation and downplay the virus's severity in order to safeguard the Communist Party of China (CCP). While the WHO shielded China, Chinese authorities were actively imprisoning doctors and individuals who attempted to raise global awareness. This resulted in a significant loss of valuable time. In February, prior to the pandemic-induced economic downturn, global unemployment rates were at their lowest and the Dow Jones index reached record highs. However, in a span of fewer than two months, years of progress were obliterated due to the negligence and corruption of a distant communist regime.

According to  Hern’s website, in May of 2022, a letter was sent by U.S. Tom Tiffancy (R-WI) to President Biden, urging the administration to withdraw from the WHO. The letter, which was obtained by The Daily Caller, was led by three House Republicans from the Republican Study Committee (RSC). In the correspondence, the lawmakers criticized Biden for overturning the previous administration's decision to withdraw from the WHO and highlighted the absence of any substantial reforms achieved by the Biden administration within the organization.
