"While House Republicans are fighting for hard-working American families facing a woke, weaponized government at odds with our way of life, President Biden and Democrats have been dragging their feet for weeks to fight for rich liberal elitists who want more spending, more government, more corporate subsidies, and less freedom," stated Rep. Chip Roy.
According to the memo issued on May 24, 2023, Rep. Roy aims to reduce federal spending by $1 trillion within a year and $5 trillion over the next decade. He advocates for budget cuts and capping future growth to regain control over the federal bureaucracy. "We want to cut funding for the woke federal bureaucracy... Democrats want to expand it," added Roy.
The memo also highlighted Roy's stance on energy policies. He argued for "reliable energy" instead of "renewable energy," asserting that the former supports the working class while the latter benefits only the elite. Roy emphasized the need to overrule President Biden's proposed student loan bailout, which he deemed unfair and detrimental to the average American. He claimed that repealing the plan would reduce the deficit by $400 billion in the current fiscal year.
Roy expressed concerns about the IRS targeting poor and middle-class Americans. He criticized President Biden's plan to hire 87,000 additional IRS agents, stating that it disproportionately affects the working class.
