Amazon Web Services, a unit of the tech giant, has announced the launch of its 'Security Lake' system, which aims to consolidate and manage security data across a variety of sources, which the company says will strengthen security by detecting potential threats more easily.
According to a release by Amazon, the system will conform to the standard of the Open Cybersecurity Schema Framework, allowing users to collect, merge, and scrutinize security data from a variety of sources. The service will be a key element of Amazon's cloud security offerings, and aims to refine diverse sets of log and event data, enhancing the speed of threat detection, response, and investigation, Amazon says.
“Security has been our top priority since the very beginning when we were designing to meet the needs of the most security-sensitive organizations," Jon Ramsey, VP for Security Services of Amazon Web Services (AWS), said in the release. "We also know that customers need trusted partners to extend the benefits of the cloud and make sure their organizations are secure end-to-end. With more than 80 sources providing data to Amazon Security Lake, security teams can achieve greater visibility into potential security threats and how to respond to them, further protecting the workloads, applications, and data that are critical to driving the business forward.”
According to the press release, the new Security Lake service distinguishes itself from conventional security solutions revolutionizing the approach to threat detection and response. Unlike traditional systems, which often involve repeated data processing and duplication, this service allows organizations to gather, standardize, and store data in a more efficient manner. As the release reports, this service significantly accelerates responses to security incidents, simplifies compliance monitoring and reporting, and harmonizes security data management across various cloud environments, therefore outperforming other solutions in both speed and efficiency.
The Security Lake service is already available in several locations, including parts of the U.S., Europe, Pacific Asia, and South America. Users of it range from organizations with extensive AWS accounts to those integrating technology from a variety of services, Amazon reported. The report said Security Lake aims to provide the flexibility to use their preferred security and analytics tools to meet their clients' needs. Other locations are expected to be added soon.
Amazon Web Services provides more than 200 services from worldwide data centers. AWS reportedly helps reduce expenses, enhances efficiency, and spurs innovation, the release added.
