Over 1,600 scientists claim that the climate emergency is a myth

Environmental Protection

A group of 1,609 scientists, who have formed a group called CLINTEL, claim that the so-called climate emergency is a myth. An article by the American Stewards of Liberty from Aug. 31 said that the group has publicly stated that they are against the Biden administration's net-zero CO2 policies.

The main reason that this group has formed is due to the apprehension that Biden could potentially declare a climate emergency, which might lead to the consolidation of extensive powers for the purpose of regulating energy, communication and infrastructure, all in the guise of environmental conservation, according to the article.

The CLINTEL website states that Climate Intelligence (CLINTEL), founded in 2019 by Professor Guus Berkhout and science journalist Marcel Crok, is an independent foundation dedicated to enhancing comprehension of climate change origins, consequences and policy ramifications. They prioritize transparent communication of climate facts, encourage public discourse, offer a global platform for diverse scientific viewpoints and engage in research. Their overarching aim is to serve as an impartial "climate watchdog" in the realms of climate science and policy.

Dr. John F. Clauser, winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in physics and one of two CLINTEL members to have won the award, said, “Misguided climate science has metastasized into massive shock-journalistic pseudoscience. In turn, the pseudoscience has become a scapegoat for a wide variety of other unrelated ills. It has been promoted and extended by similarly misguided business marketing agents, politicians, journalists, government agencies and environmentalists.”

Prominent figures, including Biden and global organizations, are pushing to protect 30% of lands and waters by 2030 to combat climate change, alongside a goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, according to the article. However, CLINTEL opposes these targets, citing their unrealistic nature and potential harm to the global economy. Recent events, such as wildfires and heatwaves, are increasingly attributed to climate change. The scientists have continued to push back against these claims and have said, “[T]here is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent.”

However, Democrats in Congress are pushing to declare a climate emergency, using the heat of the summer as “proof,” according to the article. If the legislation, which has already been introduced, is passed, the Center for Biological Diversity said Biden will be able to halt the export of crude oil, cease offshore oil and gas leasing, limit fossil fuel exports from the U.S., terminate significant global fossil fuel investments and expedite the shift to clean energy.

There is a fear that a climate emergency declaration by Biden could stifle climate crisis dissent, similar to censorship that took place during the COVID pandemic, the article stated. CLINTEL attempts to contest common climate claims, such as impending catastrophic environmental damage, species extinction and habitat loss, often used to justify taking 30% and eventually 50% of U.S. lands and waters by 2050. The American Stewards of Liberty see these arguments as fear tactics for promoting government control. They suggested that such a declaration might incite civil unrest and emphasized the need for vigilance and peaceful resolution.
