Last week, Tennessee Rep. Mark Green, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and Texas Rep. Troy Nehls jointly introduced the "No Asylum for CCP Spies Act." Green expressed his pride in co-leading this act with Senator Rubio and Congressman Nehls, stating that it is a solution to protect national security from foreign individuals associated with totalitarian or communist parties.
The introduction of this act comes at a time when border crossings are on the rise, casting doubt on the Biden Administration's border control policies. In the current month alone, there have been 140,000 illegal migrant crossings, marking a 60% increase from the figures reported in July. If this trend continues, it is anticipated that there will be 210,000 migrant apprehensions by the end of the month, reaching the highest level since the spring of 2022.
One of the growing concerns with the increase in illegal border crossings is the potential entry of individuals connected to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for malicious purposes. According to estimates, there have been approximately 40,000 encounters with Chinese nationals along the U.S. borders, with around 18,000 Chinese nationals illegally entering the United States so far this year. The lack of information about their identities and whereabouts poses an escalating national security risk.
Senator Rubio expressed his concerns about the situation, stating, "We don't know who's illegally entering our nation. This presents an opportunity for the Chinese Communist Party to further take advantage and threaten our democracy and national security interests." He emphasized the need to address this issue to protect the American people.
The "No Asylum for CCP Spies Act" aims to address this concern by blocking individuals connected to the CCP from entering the United States and obtaining asylum. The legislation explicitly states that members of such parties are not eligible for immigration benefits. The act is seen as a way to disincentivize individuals from invading the country and protect national security interests.
The introduction of this act has received support from other lawmakers as well. Kansas Senator Roger Marshall stated, "Since Joe Biden refuses to stop the flow of Chinese nationals streaming across our southern border, Senator Rubio's No Asylum for CCP Spies Act is needed to disincentivize these individuals from invading our country. We must strip asylum eligibility from the communist spies who are no doubt hiding among the masses at the southern border."
As the debate on border control policies continues, the "No Asylum for CCP Spies Act" is seen as a crucial step in addressing the potential national security risk posed by individuals associated with the CCP.
