The McCain Library in Phoenix, Arizona, a new 83,000 square foot library close to Papago Park, will be built with government funding from the American Rescue Plan's Capital Projects Fund, President Joe Biden stated. The Treasury Department is proud to support the development of a community center that will continue Senator McCain’s legacy of service.
According to a press release shared on September 28, President Joe Biden made a big announcement by approving the use of $83 million in government funding from the Capital Projects Fund of the American Rescue Plan to build the McCain Library in Phoenix, Arizona. This cutting-edge 83,000 square foot library, located close to Papago Park, will act as the focal point of Arizona State University's (ASU) future McCain Campus. The McCain Library, which bears Senator John McCain's name, aims to improve underprivileged communities. It is more than just a library. Through the provision of necessary resources, this multipurpose facility will close the digital gap in cooperation with the McCain Institute and ASU. For telemedicine, health checks, job fairs, employment training programs, and skill development seminars, it will provide physical space and cutting-edge technology.
Members of Congress and senators expressed similar enthusiasm for the plan. Senator Kyrsten Sinema expressed her joy at how the library honors Senator McCain's memory. Senator Mark Kelly emphasized the library's ability to spread awareness of McCain's exceptional contribution to future generations. The initiative's provision of essential access to technology, healthcare, and education was praised by Congressman Ruben Gallego. Congressman Greg Stanton noted how the library would pass on McCain's commitment to democracy and human rights through educating the next generation of leaders.

"Everything from advancing human rights to safeguarding democracy will run through this center, just as it has run through Arizona," said Governor Katie Hobbs in reference to the library's potential impact on Arizona. I am excited to see what we can do as a team and am glad to make this investment in our state and community. The American Rescue Plan's Capital Projects Fund, which includes this financing, demonstrates President Biden's dedication to putting money into America. Arizona already received approval for $99.4 million in CPF funding for high-speed internet infrastructure; this action is expected to provide high-speed internet connectivity to more than 127,000 homes and businesses.
