Keith Dotts, an Army Veteran who served for 26 years before retiring, has recently started availing some of the benefits offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and is satisfied with the results.

According to a press release by the VA, Dotts suffers from multiple health conditions resulting from his military service. He was invited by the VA to consult with his newly assigned primary care physician, Dr. Arun Sirohi, a veteran doctor at the VA with over 30 years of experience. Since their initial meeting, Dotts has had four appointments with Dr. Sirohi. Through these interactions, Dotts was able to leverage the extensive benefits that the VA offers United States Veterans upon their return from service. Dr. Sirohi maintains that it is essential for a provider to thoroughly examine a patient's history to understand their background and establish a plan for future care.

Dr. Sirohi said, "It makes sense for any provider to take a proper history, go through their background. That’s what I’ve always done. Anybody who comes here wants to be treated the same way. We have very complex patients. I rarely see anyone who has just one or two issues. They are not here to just be handed a prescription. They want to be treated for the real cause of their situation."

In another press release by the VA, it was highlighted that healthcare and services provided by the department can assist Veterans in treating illnesses and injuries, preventing future health problems, and improving their quality of life. All Veterans are eligible for benefit coverage for most care and services, including any health issues that occurred during their time serving in the military. The healthcare provided also includes inpatient hospital services such as kidney dialysis and surgeries.
