The resolutions were introduced by representatives from New York, Arizona, Nevada, Massachusetts, and Utah. These house resolutions range in purpose from designating a park as a national commemorative site to conveying land for the expansion of existing cemeteries.

According to the subcommittee's website, the Subcommittee on Federal Lands addresses matters related to the National Park system and the National Wilderness Preservation System, national trails, wild and scenic rivers, and other locations. The committee also oversees military parks and battlefields, national cemeteries, and federal (and non-federal) outdoor recreation opportunities and administration. U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) serves as the chair.

The subcommittee comprises Vice Chair John Curtis (R-Utah), Pete Stauber (R-Minn.), Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.), Cliff Bentz (R-Ore.), Tom McClintock (R-Calif), Jen Kiggans (R-Va.), Jim Moylan (R-Guam), and Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho).

After the legislative hearing, Chair Tiffany said:
"If I have learned one thing during my time chairing the Subcommittee on Federal Lands, it is that local input and coordination is absolutely necessary when governing the use of our public lands. I look forward to continuing to work with those on the ground to create practical uses of our public lands."

House Resolution 3047, known as the Apache County and Navajo County Conveyance Act of 2023, was sponsored by Rep. Elijah Kane (R-Ariz). The resolution would require the U.S. Forest Service to convey an existing Pinedale cemetery - 2.5 acres of property in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests – along with another 2.5 acres of property - to Apache and Navajo Counties for expanding existing cemeteries in these counties.
This bill was introduced in May 2023, and referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources that same month. It was then referred to the Subcommittee on Federal Lands in March 2024, according to the bill actions document.

House Resolution 7332, sponsored by Rep. Celeste Maloy (R-Utah), is known as the Utah State Parks Adjustment Act. The resolution would increase the Utah State Parks System by 782 acres by conveying that amount of federal land to the State of Utah. It was introduced in February 2024, according to the text of the bill.
