CCIA Welcomes FCC's Plan to Vote on Restoring Net Neutrality Protections

Washington – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced that an order restoring baseline Open Internet protections will be presented for a vote of the Commissioners during the April 25 Open Meeting. These protections aim to safeguard broadband internet traffic from blocking, throttling, paid prioritization, and unreasonable conduct.

CCIA, a tech industry association, has been actively involved in advocating for Open Internet rules. In a statement, CCIA Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President Stephanie Joyce expressed the organization's support for the upcoming vote, stating, "CCIA is pleased that Chair Rosenworcel has overseen this vital rulemaking to an expeditious conclusion. Broadband internet access service deserves protection from interference and unreasonable conduct. We look forward to reviewing the draft order once it is publicly available."

The move by the FCC to schedule the vote on restoring net neutrality protections comes after CCIA filed comments and letters supporting such rules. The organization has also been a part of a coalition that challenged the FCC's decision to repeal the 2015 Open Internet Order, arguing that it was a mistake.

The upcoming vote on April 25 signifies a significant step towards reinstating regulations that aim to ensure an open and fair internet for all users.
