The Department of Labor announced the addition of 16 new large infrastructure projects to the Mega Construction Project Program, funded through the Investing in America agenda. These projects aim to promote equal opportunity in the construction trades’ workforce and expand access to good jobs for underrepresented communities.
The Megaproject Program, launched in March 2023, focuses on removing barriers for women, people of color, veterans, and people with disabilities in accessing the millions of good jobs created by large federally funded construction projects.
With the addition of these 16 projects, the Department of Labor has now designated a total of 40 megaprojects, partnering with various government departments to ensure equitable hiring practices and provide opportunities for historically marginalized communities.
The collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors aim to provide a diverse pool of qualified workers with access to good jobs, strengthen recruitment and hiring practices, and ensure that historic federal investments reach underrepresented communities.
