Department of Defense spokesperson Lt. Col. Dave Herndon has announced that senior delegations from the United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently convened at the Pentagon for the annual U.S.-UAE Joint Military Dialogue (JMD). The dialogue served as a crucial platform for enhancing the defense partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, discussions encompassed a wide array of regional and defense issues, including regional threats, counterterrorism, maritime security, air and missile defense, and security cooperation. Notably, there was a specific focus on integrated air and missile defense, as well as cooperation on emerging capabilities.
One significant outcome of the dialogue was the formalization of a bilateral technology security partnership through the signing of the Cooperative Technology Security Program (CTSP) Execution Plan. This agreement was inked by Mr. Michael R. Laychak, the U.S. Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA) Director, and Major General Mubarak Saeed Al Jabri, the UAE Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Defence Industries.
Lt. Col. Dave Herndon emphasized the enduring commitment of both the United States and the UAE to maintaining a robust bilateral defense relationship. He underscored the UAE's pivotal role as a key partner in addressing regional challenges and highlighted the shared interests and priorities that underpin the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The UAE delegation at the dialogue was led by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen Eisa Al Mazrouie, while the U.S. delegation was headed by Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dory. The participation of these high-ranking officials signified the importance and seriousness with which both nations regard their defense cooperation and shared security interests.
