Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken recently held a meeting with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi. In a readout of the meeting, Spokesperson Matthew Miller conveyed that Secretary Blinken expressed gratitude towards Jordan for its efforts in providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Miller stated, "Secretary Blinken thanked Jordan for its strong coordination in facilitating the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, including through airdrops and overland deliveries."
Additionally, the necessity of hastening the distribution of humanitarian assistance to those in need was emphasized during the discussions. Miller noted, "The Secretary underscored the necessity of expediting the flow of humanitarian assistance to those in need."
Furthermore, the two leaders engaged in talks regarding diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting resolution to the conflict in Gaza. Miller highlighted, "The two leaders also discussed diplomatic efforts to achieve an enduring end to the war in Gaza that provides lasting peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike, as well as the urgent need to prevent the conflict from spreading."
