WASHINGTON – The global tech trade association, ITI, has expressed its support for the Bipartisan U.S. Senate AI Working Group's release of their AI Roadmap, titled "Driving U.S. Innovation in Artificial Intelligence". Jason Oxman, President and CEO of ITI, shared his thoughts on the development.

"AI’s transformative impact means the U.S. must maintain its leadership in AI innovation, and today’s AI roadmap is an important step," said Oxman. He commended U.S. Senate Majority Leader Schumer, along with U.S. Senators Young, Rounds, and Heinrich for their extensive engagement with industry, civil society, and academia on AI matters.

Oxman also noted that ITI was honored to represent the tech industry during the AI Insight Forums to help educate Senators on how AI can foster economic and societal growth.

He emphasized that the framework urges lawmakers to pass the bipartisan and bicameral CREATE AI Act. This act will authorize the National AI Research Resource to serve as an incubator for cutting-edge AI research and enhance the entire AI ecosystem. It also includes strategic investments in AI research and development aimed at advancing innovation while promoting safety and transparency in AI.

ITI continues to be a leading partner on AI for global policymakers. In November 2023, Oxman participated in U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s fourth AI Insights Forum to discuss how the tech industry is mitigating potential harms and risks associated with AI across all sectors.
